Half Day Tour
Castricum: At just 22 miles or a 25-minute train journey from Amsterdam Central Station, this little coastal town is wonderful for getting away from it all.
On arrival you can rent a bike costing just €6 per day and maps can be obtained from the station. You will enjoy the cycle through beautiful woodlands and meadows until to reach the sand dunes.
Marken and Volendam:Two of the Netherlands prime tourist attractions, these pretty fishing villages are easily accessible from Amsterdam.Markenis situated on an island but you can access it by a bridge to the mainland.Best know for it's little green houses.
You will find many of the Dutch traditions still carried on here like
locals still wearing traditional Dutch dress including clogs and if you
fancy seeing how clogs are made you can as close to the train station
is a clog makers which still makes clogs by hand.
There are severalof the cafes and restaurants where you can have some real Dutchpancakes. Along the harbor you will see a fine collection of old
fashioned sailing boats. Marken Lighthouse is also worth a visit.
The present lighthouse was built in 1839 and was declared
a national monument in 1970. It is 51m high.
Whole Day Tour
The tulip fields bloom between the beginning of March and the last week in May, 28 hectares (69 acres) of solid tulips make up the fields of the Keukenhof Gardens.
An amazing sight not only are tulips but also the themed gardens are filled with narcissi and hyacinths as well.
Entrance is €11.50 and trains run from Amsterdam’s Centraal Station to Leiden, from where a shuttle bus connects to Keukenhof.

Haarlem,
If you want more flowers the Frans Roozen Nurseries and Tulip Show can be visited from late March to late May daily 0800–1930 and entrance is free.
Haarlem town centre is a lovely mixture of 16th- and 17th-century buildings, with several museums. The Frans Hals Museum exhibits paintings by the artist.
Rotterdam:
Holland’s second largest city is often forgotten by tourists but really has a lot to offer.
It might be most famous as home to Europe’s largest port and second largest in the world, so to some extent, blighted by the massive industrial infrastructure based around it but worth a visit as Europoort is an attraction in itself, with boat tours of the massive port.
Rotterdam which was recently European City of Culture. Situated 45km (28 miles) south of Amsterdam and neighboring the Hague, this city boasts some amazing buildings.
The city centre offers plenty of shopping opportunities and the city’s nightlife is also legendary, with a more cutting edge and much less touristy than Amsterdam.
Rotterdam's red-light districts are a long way from Amsterdam standards and do not really cater for the tourist business.
Over the last few decades, the city has boldly let itself become a Mecca for Architects which have designed some stunning and some real funky yet challenging buildings all over the city.
Look out for the cube shaped houses standing at an odd angle close to the Blaak railway station. One of which is open to the public to have a look inside.
